From Team GB Athlete to Acupuncturist, A Journey of Healing
Anna Vincenti’s life has been defined by her extraordinary achievements in both skiing and football, but her journey has taken an inspiring turn. After representing Team GB on the world stage as a skier and playing football for Scotland, Hibernian, and Celtic FC, Anna has now transitioned into a new chapter of her life: becoming a licensed acupuncturist.
Anna’s career as a high-performance athlete was nothing short of impressive. From an early age, she excelled in skiing, eventually making her mark at the World Cup level with Team GB, an incredible feat that placed her among the elite in winter sports. Alongside her skiing career, she also played football at a top level, donning the jerseys of Hibernian, Scotland, and Celtic FC. Despite her success, Anna’s journey was marked by numerous injuries, resulting in 11 surgeries. Eventually, these physical challenges led her to decide to retire from sports.
However, the injuries that side-lined her athletic career became the catalyst for a new passion. Anna’s personal experience with injury and recovery ignited a deep interest in the human body and its healing processes. This curiosity led her to explore Chinese Medicine, specifically acupuncture.
Anna embarked on a new path by enrolling at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, where she undertook 3.5 years of rigorous study, travelling back and forth to complete her training. She dedicated herself to mastering the ancient art of acupuncture, recognising its potential to help others in ways that conventional medicine sometimes cannot.
“I’ve seen first hand how acupuncture can benefit people—especially now, with the backlogs in the NHS due to COVID,” Anna explains. “Acupuncture has shown potential to help with conditions like anxiety, depression, physical pain, insomnia, and even boosting immunity ahead of the winter months.”
Her belief in the power of acupuncture stems not just from her academic studies but also from her own experience of recovery as an athlete. After enduring years of surgeries and rehabilitation, Anna knows how critical it is to treat the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. She has brought this holistic approach into her practice, aiming to offer personalised and compassionate service to her clients.
Now, as a licensed acupuncturist, Anna is dedicated to using her knowledge to improve the wellbeing of others, whether it is helping people manage physical pain, trauma, chronic conditions, migraines, anxiety, depression, insomnia, women’s and men’s health, stress, headaches, skin conditions, facial rejuvenation, or overall wellbeing.
Anna Vincenti’s story is one of resilience and transformation. From a career marked by sports injuries and recovery, she has shifted her focus to healing others. Her journey may have started on the slopes and football pitches, but now it continues in her clinic, where she helps people discover the power of acupuncture to restore balance and wellbeing.
Anna is now offering treatments on a Thursday evening and all day Saturday at The Galleon Sports Centre, c/o George Watsons College, 69 Colinton Road, EH10 5EG, Edinburgh.
